The day everything stopped

On December 7, 2023, with a single click, 350,000 businesses ceased to exist digitally. 💥
Imagine this. You're an executive at Coaxis. One ordinary morning, the screen freezes. A message appears: your data is encrypted. A ransom of $5 million is demanded.
This is the starting point of "Don't Go To The Police," the gripping film screened yesterday at the Grand Rex, which I had the pleasure of attending thanks to the Circle. Parnassus .
This isn't a movie. It's a true story. 🛡️
The survey, produced by IDZ for Orange Cyberdefense takes us behind the scenes of a global cyberattack orchestrated by the Russian LockBit network.
The nightmare scenario:
1️⃣ Infiltration: No computer genius required, just social engineering. The attacker studies your social networks and connections. They wait for a human vulnerability.
2️⃣ The suffocation: No more accounting, no more payroll. Weeks of total paralysis. Panic spreads among clients.
3️⃣ Blackmail: Double extortion. "Pay or we'll publish your secrets."
The twist? The company didn't back down. It filed a lawsuit. While the FBI and Europol infiltrated LockBit's servers to seize their cryptocurrencies, Coaxis rebuilt everything from scratch.
The key to the miracle: Disconnected backups. A month of relentless struggle to restore everything. A month of pure resilience.
My conviction as a CIO: AI accelerates everything. Code, but also crime. Innovation is good. Protecting assets is vital. Congratulations to Orange Cyberdefense for 10 years of expertise and this "Trust the Future" plan.
Leaders, don't gamble on luck. Is your company truly resilient?
