Ecosia / Qwant - 🔍 A further step towards European digital sovereignty?

🌱 A few years ago, I conducted an in-depth study on Ecosia . I was struck by its strong vision and sincere environmental values… but one major drawback: its dependence on the Bing search engine, which limited its strategic reach.

Today, Ecosia (🇩🇪) partners with Qwant (🇫🇷) the French search engine, to launch together STAAN, an independent search index presented as a European alternative to Google.

🤝 The partnership with Qwant opens up a new perspective: what if Europe (🇪🇺) finally built its own sovereign technological foundation — ethical, efficient and aligned with its values?

The initiative is promising. It remains to be seen whether it will live up to its promises. And whether, within this dynamic, an actor like Mistral AI To complete the picture, the ambition of a true European ecosystem would no longer be so far off…
