Data redundancy: a false sense of security?

I am often told:
"Our data is redundant, everything is under control!"
But upon further investigation, I discovered that the backups are often... in the same building, or worse, in the building next door.
This reminds me of the devastating fires in California. Even if your belongings are spread across several neighboring houses, what happens if the entire neighborhood goes up in smoke?
Redundancy is essential, but its location is just as crucial. Protecting your data means thinking about extreme scenarios:
1️⃣ What to do in case of fire, flood, or even a major infrastructure failure?
2️⃣ Does your plan include remote backup, in a secondary office, or better yet, with a trusted third party in the cloud?
👉 This consideration applies equally to large groups and SMEs. Whether you are a multinational or a small business, your data represents much more than just numbers: it is your digital capital, your engine of growth, and even the heart of your business.
👉 True security lies in anticipation. Redundancy is a first step, but well-designed redundancy, located away from local risks, makes all the difference.
And you, where are your backups today? Ready to withstand the most extreme unforeseen events? 🚀
