If you offer Wi-Fi access to your customers, did you know that you are legally responsible for how it is used?

In France, the Hadopi Law (Article L34-1 of the Postal and Electronic Communications Code) requires internet service providers, including companies offering public Wi-Fi, to retain users' connection data for one year. This obligation is further reinforced by European Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR), which mandates rigorous and secure management of personal data.

✅ A few essential reminders to ensure you are in compliance:

1️⃣ Separate networks: A Wi-Fi dedicated to clients must be separate from the internal business network to ensure the security of company data.

2️⃣ Use a compliant device: Specialized solutions allow you to record user activity while respecting data protection regulations.

3️⃣ Inform users: Clearly display the Wi-Fi usage conditions and collect their consent, if necessary.

💡 Why is this important?

In the event of illegal use (for example: illegal downloads, cybercrime), you could be held liable if you have not complied with these obligations.

🔒 Anticipate risks and be proactive: Ensure you are compliant to protect your business and your customers.

If you would like assistance in auditing and securing your Wi-Fi infrastructure, I am available to discuss it with you. 📩
